Big, burly, grippy and tubeless. The Continental Rubber Queen UST is all of these. The 26 x 2.2 version is high volume and a good choice for trail riders looking for a tubeless full knobby, though it looks small next to the massive 2.4 Rubber Queen UST. The two sizes share the tread design (a modified paddle shape), a casing with an "Apex" insert in the sidewall to stabilize the tire and provide puncture resistance and a true UST tubeless bead and casing. No sealant required. |

 There is no missing these tires or who makes them. They are red, really RED, inside and out, with bold labels proclaiming the features: Hutchinson Cross Country Tubeless Ready Cobra. Developed with Olympic and World Champion Julian Absalon, the Cobra is designed for speed on dry terrain. Tightly spaced small knobs run down the middle for fast rolling with aggressive edge blocks for lateral bite. The advantage of Tubeless Ready? Weight. My samples weigh 542 and 563g compared to 520g (claimed) for the Air Light (tube type) and 660g for the Tubeless Light Cobra 2.10. |

Received a Tiger Claw from Jenson USA, got it mounted and measured. Marked as a 2.00 on the hot stamp label--and a 1.9 on the box and molded into the sidewall--it has a supple high volume casing, comparable in size to a Kenda 2.10. The three point tread blocks are very similar to the '80s Specialized Tricross though set in a different pattern. I like to look of the numerous biting edges and angles. I expect it to roll well and grip nicely on most terrain short of full-on muck. Will ride it soon. Full specs below. |
